Wesley Snipes Sentenced!

What happens when you don’t pay your taxes? Just look at once multimillionaire actor Wesley Snipes. On Thursday a federal judge, Judge William Terrell Hodges sentenced Mr. Sniper 3 years behind jail for not filing his taxes. After the verdict of tax fraud was read, Wesley showed no emotions and quietly walked out of the court room. Luckily for him, Judge Hodges is allowing him to remain free on bond until he’s summoned back to court.

After the hearing, Mr. Snipes read a prepared statement saying, “I’m very sorry for my mistakes. I acknowledge that I have failed myself and others.” But, he’s getting a lot of criticism for not only from the public, but from fellow attorneys. Lead prosecutor, Robert O’Neill stated, “He never stated he didn’t pay his taxes or show any remorse for it.”

That is what I find the most damning in this case. I totally understand why someone making $6/hr. at a fast food joint would want to file, but a multimillionaire? C’mon he had more than enough change lying around in which to pay his taxes. Wesley wasn’t the only one charge in this case; his fellow co-defendants Eddie Ray Kahn and Mr. Rosile were charged with felony charges. Mr. Kahn was dealt a 10 year term, Mr. Rosile had only 4 ½ years.

At times Mr. Kahn appeared to be testy towards the judge stating that, “For the record, your honor, I don’t accept that.” And the judge promptly responded, “You may not accept it, Mr. Kahn, but you will serve it.”
I think these guys got what they deserve. I mean what do you expect to happen when you don’t pay your taxes? Below is a video covering this case:
